Yarn Therapy

“Therapeutic knitting represents a different approach to “being well”… It gives you a simple yet powerful tool to begin healing and dealing with life anytime, anywhere, whether you are fit and well or living with a long term condition.” Betsan Corkhill

Knitting has real health benefits that has transformed and even saved lives. It has been proven to be helpful for anxiety, depression, panic attacks, PTSD, pain management, stress, chronic health management, social confidence, boredom and more. Knitting releases dopamine (a feel good hormone) that creates a relaxation effect in as little as 15 minutes. (Betsan Corkhill, Knit for Health & Wellness, 2005).

We show people how to harness kntting as a therapeutic tool and create projects that increase mental and emotional resilience. Whatever is happening in their lives, knitting gives people a positive and constructive goal to work towards – something they can succeed with, that belongs to them and they have control over. The benefits of knitting for health are similar to meditation, but unlike meditation, knitting is portable and allows people to self-calm quickly without mental focus. Yarn Therapy is wellbeing at your fingertips.
